"InclUUsion uncovered. Experience of displaced students"

Conference on Refugee Students

During the current academic year, more than 100 students with a refugee background attended regular courses at Utrecht University. What kind of challenges did they face? What kind of dreams do they have?

Students with a refugee background present themselves and tell their stories

These students will organise a conference at Utrecht Science Park: InclUUsion uncovered. Experience of displaced students. During this conference, the students will present themselves and tell their stories. They will also reflect upon issues such as stigmas associated with refugees, integration and participation.

Using self-made movies, Q&A sessions and presentations the students will show that every story is unique and that there is more to what the media presents to us.

The conference starts with a plenary session, after which participants can join two out of four workshops:

  • Dreams/daily life workshop
  • Challenges study/work workshop
  • Questions and Answers Workshop
  • Storytelling Workshop

At the end of the conference, a final plenary meeting will take place in which time is reserved to exchange experiences.
