Co-creation session "UU's digital carbon footprint"

Pathways to Sustainability

to

In our increasingly digital world, it's easy to overlook the tangible impacts of our virtual activities. Behind every digital interaction lies a complex network of energy consumption and material use, all of which have significant environmental consequences. In our upcoming co-creation session, we aim to map out and understand the environmental footprint of UU’s digital services.

During this session, UU students, researchers and staff will to explore the following key areas:

  • Identifying Digital Services: We will catalog the digital services and associated hardware that we are using.
  • Assessing Influence and Impact: We will evaluate the extent of UU’s influence over these digital services and assess their ecological impact.
  • Outlining Action Plans: We will draft initial strategies to reduce the environmental impact of these services.

By gathering this information, we aim to pinpoint specific areas where the university can take concrete actions to minimize its digital footprint.

The session will take place on Monday 19 May, 13:30 - 16:00 (doors open at 13:15) in Tielezaal (E.1.25), University Library City Center. Are you interested in contributing to this session with your input and expertise? Please register by sending an email to a.f.nelissen@uu.nl.

This session is part of the Pathways to Sustainability Incubator project Digitally Green, led by Judith Keilbach.
