Book Launch: Feminist and Queer Methodology in Law

to

Feminist and queer research have become integral parts of international legal scholarship. Influenced by Anglo-American literature, European researchers have increasingly adopted these research methods over the past decades. Nevertheless, Dutch-language legal research that explicitly engages with feminist or queer methodologies remains scarce. The new Dutch-language publication 'Feminist and Queer Research Methods in Law' addresses this gap.

The Research Platform Equality Legal Studies (EQUALS) and Utrecht Centre for European Research into Family Law (UCERF) warmly invite you to the book launch of 'Feminist and Queer Research Methods in Law', a book addressing this gap and providing practical tools for anyone using or wishing to use these methods in law. The event aims to bring together researchers from Dutch-speaking universities and professionals from legal practice to highlight ongoing feminist and queer research, explore synergies, and collectively reflect on the potential and challenges of these methods within the field of law.

With 29 contributions – by authors from law, criminology and other disciplines – methodological issues are central to the book: how can feminist and queer perspectives renew, deepen and challenge legal science? Following a successful launch in Flanders earlier this year, the editors and authors are delighted to present the book in the Netherlands and to engage in dialogue with anyone who conducts (or wishes to conduct) research using elements from a feminist or queer research lens.

The event aims to bring together researchers from Dutch-speaking universities and professionals from legal practice to highlight ongoing feminist and queer research, explore synergies, and collectively reflect on the potential and challenges of these methods within the field of law.
