Boek Dangerous Gifts

Together with Utrecht Centre for Global Challenges and Turkey Studies Network, the ERC-Securing Europe project team in the Department of History and Art History is organising a book launch on 28 September to celebrate the publication of Dr Ozan Ozavci’s new monograph Dangerous Gifts: Imperialism, Security, and Civil Wars in the Levant, 1798-1864.

The book investigates the genealogy of Western armed interventionism in the Middle East. Distinguished panellists Prof. Beatrice de Graaf, Prof. Khaled Fahmy (Cambridge), Prof. Christine Philliou (UC Berkeley), Prof. Selim Deringil (Bogazici) and Prof. Isa Blumi (Stockholm) will share their views on the book. The event will be moderated by Dr Enno Maessen (Universiteit Utrecht).
