Afternoon excursion: Birding in Amelisweerd

Please note that this excursion is in Dutch.

Will you join us on a birding trip on 19 June? During this excursion, birder Matias, former biology student at UU, will take you on an adventure in Amelisweerd. During the walk, we will pass different types of forest, so you can see for yourself where different bird species live.

Besides the common robins, great tits and nuthatches, you will also have the chance to encounter less common species. These include woodpecker species such as the green woodpecker and the middle-spotted woodpecker.

Nature and weather conditions cannot be controlled, but you will always hear and see birds. Bird watching can be done anytime and anywhere. Hopefully, this excursion will make you excited to go birdwatching yourself in the coming months!

Who is it for?

All UU and HU students and staff who want to know more about birds. No prior knowledge is needed. If you have binoculars or can borrow them from someone, it is useful to bring them along. The workshop is free, but we do expect you to participate if you have registered. The language of this workshop is Dutch.

BioBlitz 2024: Discover biodiversity in Utrecht Science Park

During the BioBlitz from 22 May to 22 June, we invite all students and staff to spot and register as many species of plants, animals and fungi in USP. By annually mapping which species live in USP, we can monitor whether our actions to strengthen biodiversity are effective. During the BioBlitz you can also participate in excursions and workshops on biodiversity.
