Aanwaaiers Day
During the citizen science project Aanwaaiers, participants place a pot of soil outside to see which seeds are carried in by the wind. On Aanwaaiers Day, you’ll find out what has grown in your pot, attend a talk about the research, or learn how to identify plants.
On the Aanwaaiers Day, participants receive a small thank-you when they bring their pot. As a participant, you also get free access to the Gardens and can bring one guest for free. In addition, you can attend an engaging talk by Monique about her research and learn from the researchers which plant seeds have “blown in.”

About Aanwaaiers
Wind dispersal of seeds plays an important role in biodiversity. With the citizen science project Aanwaaiers, researcher Monique de Jager studies how seeds spread in and around cities. Participants place a pot of soil outside for six weeks and observe what grows. Around 770 people across the Netherlands are currently taking part.
