Reserved Accommodation Programme
Utrecht University offers a Reserved Accommodation Programme for new international UU students who meet the requirements. Through this programme new international students can apply for a limited number of furnished rooms and studios. Offers are on first come first serve basis - finding housing this way is not guaranteed.
Conditions (Master's students)
Offers are limited
Placing a reservation is not guaranteed. Because the run for housing is high, also anticipate that you might not be able to book and explore other ways to find housing before booking opens.
Rental periods are fixed
The agreements have fixed start and end dates. It is not possible to rent longer or shorter or cancel the agreement prematurely.
12 months only
Master's degree students who start their studies in February can apply for 12 months only.

Housing provider: SSH Short Stay
For Master's students planning to enrol per February 2024, the UU Reserved Accommodation Programme offers furnished rooms and studios via housing provider SSH Short Stay. Because the housing is not owned by Utrecht University, contracts are between the tenant and the housing provider.
Types of housing
For Master's students who plan to enrol per February, SSH Short Stay offers furnished private rooms and studios in two residence buildings. The accommodations include all the basic furniture you need such as a bed, wardrobe, desk and chair. The accommodation is situated in international student residences. All accommodations have internet provided.
Shared facilities and good tenancy
With the exception of private studios, tenants share facilities like the bathroom, kitchen and washing machine with the other housemates. Like in all common areas, good tenancy is expected in regard of nuisance and cleanliness. Read more about what is expected of tenants in the Netherlands.
Locations
The accommodation reserved for Master's degree students is located on Utrecht Science Park and on the International Campus Utrecht. Both locations and buildings and room types are a popular choice for different reasons. To increase your booking chances, we advise you not to fixate on one or two locations when booking opens, but to consider all options.
Rental period
The housing for Master's degree students is available for fixed rental period of 12 months: 25 January 2024 - 23 January 2025. It is not possible to terminate the contract early or to extend your stay. Tenants are responsible for the rental payments of the full tenancy period. Note that SSH' rental periods do not necessarily cover the full semesters. Educational activities may be planned before or after the rental period.
