Payment
Paying the fees is an essential part of the visa and residence permit application and must be completed before the deadline. We cannot submit your application to the IND before we have received payment. Please note that the visa/residence permit fee is non-refundable once the application has been submitted to the IND.
This information is for students who hold a mainland China passport with country code CHN. This does not apply to you if you have a Hong Kong or Taiwanese passport.
Payment
The deadline for payment is 15 November.
For the visa/residence permit application, you will need to pay:
- Visa/residence permit application fee
- Your tuition fee (for this academic year)
- Financial means to cover living expenses (for the first twelve months)
Visa/residence permit application fee
The IND and the UU charge a fee for each visa/residence permit application. This amount is currently €257.
The payment of this fee is integrated into the OSIRIS Online Application process. You can access the online payment portal once you have uploaded all your digital documents. The fee can be paid by VISA or MasterCard (debit or credit card). We also offer the option of paying with iDEAL, Bancontact or Sofort.
Tuition and Financial Means for Living Expenses
To be granted a visa and residence permit, you must be able to support yourself financially during your stay in the Netherlands. The IND has set a minimum monthly amount that students need to live. This takes into account average housing costs and living expenses. The minimum amount is €935 a month.
For Chinese students, the IND does not accept Certificates of Deposit as proof of financial means. You will have to transfer the financial means for the first twelve months of your stay to us in advance. This amounts to a total of 12 x €935 = €11,220. You can prove that you have sufficient financial means by transferring this amount.
The money will be kept in your name until you arrive in the Netherlands. Once you have arrived, you will need to open a Dutch bank account so we can refund your financial means.
You will receive a combined invoice for the tuition fee and financial means. This invoice will be sent to the e-mail address you entered in your Studielink account. The invoice can only be paid by bank transfer. Please note that we must receive the exact amount stated on the invoice. This means you must cover any costs associated with the transfer. Payment information is shown on the invoice.
If you have applied for more than one bachelor’s or master’s programme, please check that you have received the invoice for the correct programme. If not, contact us at visa@uu.nl.
Proof of payment
After you have paid the invoice, you should obtain a proof of payment. It must include the following details:

- Name of the account holder
- Name of the bank
- Payment date

- Utrecht Excellence Scholarship (UES) and Law, Economics and Governance International Talent Scholarship (UES-LEGITS).
