Transdisciplinary Case Study for a real world client
Solve a multidisciplinary issue relevant to sustainable development for a real world client outside the university
Group work of 6 students from different disciplinary backgrounds who need to integrate their perspectives and that of societal stakeholders.
Aims
This assignment helps to achieve the following aims in the master course:
- Perform an Integrated Problem Analysis of a sustainable development issue from a multidisciplinary perspective;
- Analyse specific subsystems relevant to solving the central (multidisciplinary) research question;
- Formulate Integrated Interventions for a multidisciplinary sustainable development problem, in the form of actions to be taken by the client, and/or recommendations for further research on remaining knowledge gaps;
- Report on the findings to an audience of both specialists and non-specialist stakeholders;
- Take responsibility for, and reflect on, the personal role, as well as that of other students, in the group process;
- Show a professional attitude towards the client and stakeholders involved.

Teacher effort (hours)
Each students receives about 2,25 hour of guidance (which is mostly done in groups of 6)
Final product
Scientific report on a societal issue related to sustainable development, relevant for the outside Client organisation.

Description of the example
Each year about 20-25 reports for outside clients are produced.
