LA for improving student guidance

Every student at Utrecht University is assigned a tutor and can contact a study advisor. Part of study advisors’ role is also to contact students proactively by regularly checking whether any students need further attention. When there is for example a risk of drop-out, the study advisor may contact the student to offer timely support. Similarly, when a student is doing exceptionally well, study advisors may for example point students to honours programs or extracurricular activities, or inform them about the possibilities of a career in academia. LA may assist in this process by examining which factors are predictive of drop-out or student success. This can be done by studying data from earlier cohorts of students.

  The aim of this project is to develop a dashboard for study advisors that provides a clear overview of the students under their care, including their (potential) study delay.
