LA for course and curriculum design
Utrecht University aims to provide high-quality education, and part of that task is to keep monitoring, improving, and innovating the curricula and courses on offer. Learning Analytics can be a tool in this process.
Learning Analytics applications could visualize and connect different sources of information that allow to monitor the development of curricula and the quality of courses over time, which would be a valuable tool in the cycle of quality assurance. Below, projects are highlighted that are in line with these aims.
What study paths do students choose?
Students usually have quite some options to choose from in terms of courses and the order in which to enroll in courses. At the bachelor program Earth Sciences, the program directors wanted to find out what study paths students choose. In collaboration with team Learning Analytics, analyses were performed to discover these paths.
Optimize learning in ULearning
The Graduate School of Life Sciences deploys ULearning as a digital learning environment for its online and blended education. Teachers want to be able to monitor student progress during a course and respond accordingly to prevent dropout. In addition, upon completion of a course, teachers want insight into the use of learning activities to optimize course design.
