External LA societies

The relevance of Learning Analytics is recognized in increasingly more educational institutions. LA societies have been created at the national and international level as well. 

At the national level, SURF has a special interest group LA that regularly organizes events and writes blog posts. UU currently participates in SURF's pilot for a LA infrastructure. 

At the international level, the Society for Learning Analytics Research (SoLAR) is the leading organization concerning LA. They organize the yearly Learning Analytics and Knowledge conference. Utrecht University is an Institutional Member of Solar, meaning that all UU employees can become individual SoLAR members for free and can get a discount on attending the LAK conference.
