External LA societies

The relevance of Learning Analytics is recognized in increasingly more educational institutions. LA societies have been created at the national and international level as well. 

SURF

At the national level, SURF has a special interest group (SIG) LA that regularly organizes events and writes blog posts. 

In 2023 – 2024 team LA participated in the SURF project Infrastructure Learning analytics research. The aim of this project was to determine what “an infrastructure for learning analytics should consist of to be able to be used by multiple institutions”. SoLAR

At the international level, the Society for Learning Analytics Research (SoLAR) is the leading organization concerning LA. They organize the yearly Learning Analytics and Knowledge conference. Utrecht University is an Institutional Member of Solar, meaning that all UU employees can become individual SoLAR members for free and can get a discount on attending the LAK conference. To become a member, go to the Solar membership page select individual membership, and enter the code for Utrecht available on the intranet.
