Aftermovie Life Sciences PhD & Postdoc Career Week 2025
The week kicked off in the Hijmans van den Bergh building, Utrecht Sciences Park and concluded at the BCF Career Event, Jaarbeurs Utrecht. Participants explored a wide range of career paths, academic and beyond, through a hands-on programme that included workshops on diverse topics and inspiring alumni talks.

- Identifying and communicating transferable skills
- Job interview preparation
- Salary negotiation
- Networking in and outside academia
Alumni Talks
Two lunchtime alumni panels gave honest insights into life after the PhD. Day 1 featured academic career paths; Day 2 focused on careers in industry, consultancy, data science and beyond. Alumni shared how their PhD experiences shaped their career journeys, and encouraged current researchers to explore all possibilities.
Career Fair at the BCF Event
The final day took participants to the BCF Career Event, the Netherlands’ largest career fair for life sciences. A chance to connect with employers, attend pitches, and explore future roles in industry, government, and research.
Participants left the week with new insights, practical tools, and the confidence to take their next career step, whatever direction that may be.
