What does a Virtual Reality Learning Space offer you?
In the Virtual Reality Learning Space, you can offer your students a learning experience in a specially designed room that would be more difficult to achieve under normal teaching conditions. For example, you can have your students practice skills in a realistic, virtual environment. The room is equipped with four play areas so that four students can work through an assignment at the same time. Thanks to the monitors provided, a fellow student can watch along or give instructions. The focus, therefore, is on offering an individualized experience that can be expanded into a project for two. The space offers your class the following:
- 4 playing fields
- Viewing screen for the teacher
- 4 Extra screens for duo-assignments
- 4 VR-devices (HTC-Vive-Focus)
- Support by an AV/XR-expert
So, are you looking for a space where you can incorporate virtual reality into your teaching? Then consider using the VR Learning Space for your classes!
How to use VR in your classroom
Virtual Reality is one of the various forms of Extended Reality. The Center for Academic Teaching and Learning has launched the Extended Reality (XR) project to investigate what is needed to implement and support XR at Utrecht University in the future, from educational, technological, and organizational perspectives.
If you’d like to explore how to incorporate VR into your teaching, Project XR can help and guide you through this process. Learn more about the project or read about teachers’ experiences on the Project XR webpage. The guidance process will begin with an orientation meeting.
