Extended Reality (XR)
Extended Reality (XR) is the umbrella term used for Augmented Reality (AR), Mixed Reality (MR) and Virtual Reality (VR). The various XR technologies are considered promising technologies for facilitating learning. They present endless opportunities to give students a learning experience that wouldn’t usually be possible in a classroom. Such as being part of the body’s cellular immune system, seeing body parts in 3D, and practicing skills in a realistic and authentic setting. The growing popularity of AR/VR/MR has encouraged teachers to study these technologies’ learning potential in education. Interactivity and involvement are important characteristics of these advanced technologies. Educate-it has written a review of the use of VR and AR in education.
