Dare to be Grey is nominated for the award Exceptional Achievements 2016.

Extremism will not go away by thinking in extremes.

The 'Dare to be Grey' social media campaign was conceived by a group of 21 students. They translated scientific insights with unbridled enthusiasm into this social and political campaign against radicalisation. Their goal was to replace black-and-white thinking such as refugees are/are not welcome with personal stories from people holding nuanced views. By giving the 'grey majority' a voice, they hope to reduce the polarisation between proponents and opponents.

'Dare to be Grey' was the winner of a worldwide contest in which students developed a social media strategy to counteract extremism and radicalisation. The contest was organised by Facebook and the United States Department of State in July 2016.
