Community Engaged Learning research
Within the UU, there is increasing research into various aspects of CEL. Questions central to this include, for example, ‘How does CEL contribute to the university's mission?’, ‘What is the added value of CEL for all stakeholders?’ and ‘How do you establish sustainable relationships with external partners?
Chairs focusing on CEL
- As university professor, James Kennedy has a specific teaching assignment in the field of Community Engaged Learning. Check out his oration ‘Back to the Sixties? Community Engaged Learning and the Future of the University.'
- Jorg Huijding's chair is called Community engagement in higher education, and is aimed at strengthening the triangle between education, research and society. Jorg Huijding is also the CEL ambassador for the Faculty of Social Sciences. Read his oration and an article about it in Science Guide here.
- Gerda Andringa, through her chair Community Engaged Learning in Health and Care, contributes to research on educational innovation in medical education in particular. Gerda Andringa is also CEL ambassador for University College Roosevelt. Read her oration here.
- In addition, on behalf of the CEL programme, a UU-wide study has been launched to gain insight into the diversity of CEL education within UU, and what the learning potential of CEL is for all involved. This research is being conducted under the direction of Sanne Akkerman, Mayke Vereijken and Jeroen Vermeulen.
