AI Tools for Teachers

Utrecht University offers various AI platforms. On the “AI Platforms at UU” page, you can find out which platforms are available and what terms and conditions apply to their use. UU AI Chat (log in with Solis-ID) is recommended for use in education.

Support for Teaching Duties

You can use UU AI-Chat to support the preparation of your education. Do not let the chatbot take over tasks, but solely let it support your work. Always rigorously check the output on correctness, quality, and applicability for your education.

If you start working with a chatbot, it is recommended to complete the e-modules for staff. "Navigating Generative AI"

Use with Students

You can ask students to use AI for an assignment and direct them to UU AI Chat. Thanks to this secure platform, you can, for example, have students practice using AI or reflect on its possibilities and limitations.

A reference to UU AI Chat does not automatically mean that students will actually use this platform: they may choose to use a different chatbot. If it is important that students work within UU AI Chat, you can therefore make the platform an active part of the assignment. UU AI Chat offers the option to create a “custom bot” that guides students through an exercise or learning activity. This allows you to purposefully incorporate engaging teaching methods using AI into your instruction.

If your students are using generative AI, you can ask them to complete the e-modules for students "E-Learnings Generative AI". You can check if they have completed this e-module through the badge they receive when finishing the e-learning.
