Utrecht University offers a range of e-modules to help you become AI-literate.
Navigating Generative AI
The 'Navigating Generative AI' modules cover the basics of AI-literacy: What is it, what are the risks, how can you use it responsibly, and how can you deploy it effectively? They cover how users should approach AI. They form the basis for the series ‘Teaching in the Age of AI’, which explores in greater depth the pedagogical changes facing teachers in the age of AI.
Navigating Generative AI: Getting to Know Generative AI After completing this e-module, you will be able to:
- Identify the models that form the basis of GenAI;
- Explain how these models work;
- Identify common misconceptions and pitfalls when using AI;
- Identify and recognise the different forms of bias.
Navigating Generative AI: Responsible Use of Generative AI After completing this module, you will be able to:
- Explain the importance of human involvement in GenAI;
- Outline the key aspects of the European AI Act and AI policy;
- Identify the potential risks associated with the use of GenAI;
- Be transparent about your use of (Gen)AI and understand why this is important.
Navigating Generative AI: Writing Better Prompts After completing this module, you will be able to:
- Write effective prompts to generate text, images and code;
- Apply the BRAVE(R) memory aid to your prompts;
- Prompt responsibly by evaluating the results of your prompt using RACCCA.
This series of e-modules was developed by the University Library for students. They have been rewritten for teachers by the Centre for Academic Teaching and Learning (CAT). Their content therefore corresponds to that of the student modules of the same name.
E-modules for students
Very similar e-modules have been developed for students. You can incorporate these into your teaching. Upon completing one of the student e-modules, the student receives a (digital) badge. You can require students to hand these in, thereby making the modules compulsory in your course.
