SIG faculty embedding teaching ambitions

Since the establishment of the Centre of Academic Teaching and Learning (CAT) and the initiation of 'Recognition & Reward', many new initiatives have been developed in the field of education both within and outside Utrecht University. There is an ongoing search for how national and university policy around educational innovation, educational scholarship and teacher development (and related career development) should be implemented at faculty and departmental levels. Questions arise mainly at the level of policy, organization and governance. From a strong desire to better support the ambitions with respect to education, organizational structures are currently being set up in various places, both at faculty and departmental level.

The initiators of this SIG are convinced that it is valuable to tackle this quest collaboratively, by exchanging ideas, experiences and good practices. The goal of this SIG is to facilitate this exchange. A diverse group of employees, interested in education and from all the different faculties, come together to exchange how, within faculties, the university-wide ambitions in the field of educational innovation, educational scholarship and the related academic careers are given a place and how these ambitions are concretely translated at faculty and departmental level. This SIG explicitly does not aim to develop policy; this is of course the responsibility of (vice) deans, among others.

This SIG meets approximately 4 times a year.

Leader: Liesbeth Bijlsma.
