Utrecht University Roadmap for Scholarship of Teaching and Learning

The Utrecht University Roadmap for Scholarship of Teaching and Learning is a practical step-by-step plan that helps you as a lecturer in setting up an (initial) SoTL study and systematically research your own teaching practice, when you want to optimise it and professionalise yourself by gaining knowledge about your students' learning. 

In eight steps, you will be stimulated to think critically about the way you organise your teaching and what effect this has on your students' learning. Relevant information, tips and targeted questions will help you to transform your ideas into a practice-oriented research/evaluation in a structured way. The roadmap is also accessible as an elearning module, with many examples, explanations, and exercises. 

The first edition of the roadmap, titled Utrecht Roadmap for Scholarship of Teaching and Learning, was created in 2019. In 2026, it was updated and renamed the Utrecht University Roadmap for Scholarship of Teaching and Learning.
