Research into higher education
Research into higher education is an interdisciplinary research topic with higher education as its subject. This involves, for example, examining the impact of education in the broadest sense or how learning works within a higher education context. Internationally, this form of research is known as Higher Education Research.
Research into education conducted by lecturers takes place across various departments at Utrecht University. Within all faculties, there are academics who conduct research into higher education, such as professors whose chair includes teaching. PhD students in many research groups are also working on research into higher education. In recent years, for instance, an impressive list of theses has been produced, covering a variety of research topics on higher education at Utrecht University. You can find an overview of these here.
Higher Education Research is a research focus area for Utrecht University. This focus area aims to connect education researchers from different disciplines, promotes joint research projects and has provided financial support for education research in the past.
