Antoine Steenkamer is the winner of the award Exceptional Achievements 2016 because of his project Spelendergrijs.

After holding various side jobs in care homes, we reached the conclusion that social activities for residents could be more enjoyable and varied.

Antoine is the co-founder of 'Spelendergrijs' (in English: 'Grayful'), a national initiative in the Netherlands linking talented students to senior care and nursing homes. The students arrange musical performances, excursions for residents, lectures on topics such as art history and so on. The organisation operates in Amsterdam, Utrecht, Maastricht, Tilburg and Breda.

Antoine was also involved in establishing a research collaboration between two university institutes on the use of stem cells and cell lines that are stored in biobanks.
