Bamboo walk and Taxodium marsh
If you turn left from the entrance and follow the main path, you will soon arrive at our Bamboo walk. As soon as you cross the first little bridge, the garden takes on an Eastern atmosphere. Here you can see various species of bamboo growing, along with many other Asian plants.
In spring the miniature Taxodium wetland area is at it's best. The enormous white and yellow bracts of the skunk cabbages (Lysichiton spp.) can be seen then, as well as beautiful Marsh marigold (Caltha palustris). Through the year the exceptional roots of the Taxodiums are stunning.
After crossing the North American woodland garden you will enter the Bamboo walk. In addition to numerous species of bamboo, there are also Japanese and Chinese plants here, including Peonies (Paeonia spp.) and species of Fairy wing (Epimedium spp.). Peonies flower for a short period only, but the seed heads that remain are also highly attractive.
