Reflecting on an inspiring Dies Natalis 2025 at Utrecht University

On 26 March, we celebrated the 389th Dies Natalis of Utrecht University, centered around the crucial theme: Healthy Planet. With our planet facing immense challenges in sustainability, health, and climate change, the discussions focused on actionable solutions and transdisciplinary collaboration.

A key highlight was the Dies Dialogue Session on Biodiversity & (Planetary) Health, organized by the ULS Planetary Health community. Researchers, educators, and staff came together to reflect, exchange ideas, and co-create strategies to further integrate Planetary Health into education, research, and community engagement at Utrecht University. Through interactive exercises, group discussions, and knowledge sharing, we explored how our work connects to planetary health, and what concrete steps we can take moving forward.

A huge thank you to our colleagues Juliette Mattijsen, Lidwien Smit, George Downward , George Kowalchuk, and Noa Kolpa for shaping this session, and to everyone who contributed to these meaningful conversations! Let’s keep working towards a healthier planet for all 🌱✨
