Financial matters
There are three main costs that you need to consider when planning your studies at University College Utrecht: tuition fees, the costs of your accommodation or the ''campus fee'', and your personal daily expenses. On this page you will find more information about each of these costs, and possibilities for financial support.

Next to the tuition fee, students pay a yearly campus fee for living on campus. The campus fee covers accommodation and utility costs (such as water and electricity) and the use of campus facilities. There is also a membership fee of the University College Student Association (UCSA) covering access to activities on campus.
The campus fees cover accommodation for approximately 10 and a half months a year, and typically students will move out over the summer to allow for maintenance. For reference, the average monthly cost of a student room in Utrecht is reported to be €800 (Kamernet, 2026 Q1).
Most students live in a single room, but it is possible to live in a double room, where you share your room with another student. If you share a room on campus you will pay a lower fee. A breakdown of the campus fees can be found on the 'Fees & Finances' page.
Application fee
University College Utrecht charges an application fee of €85 for degree seeking students, except from students with Dutch VWO diplomas and those that hold refugee status. For more information about the application process and how this fee is paid, please see our pages on admission procedure.
Financial Aid, Scholarships and Student Jobs
Financial Aid
Dutch students are eligible for student finance from the Dutch government, consisting of a basic study grant, supplementary grant based on parental income, tuition fee loan and study loan.
Students from the EU, EEA and Switzerland are entitled to a tuition fee loan only from the Dutch government. In some cases EU/EEA students can benefit from the same student finance options that are available to Dutch students. Non EU/EEA students are not entitled to any financial aid from the Dutch government, but may qualify for aid from their own countries.
Scholarships
University College Utrecht offers scholarships to both Dutch and international students who need financial support to cover the cost of their study, in the form of full campus fee waivers for the double room option. All international applicants can apply for a scholarship, non-EU/EEA and EU/EEA scholarship applicants are considered equally. Student Jobs
Many students at University College Utrecht find part time work either on campus of off campus to supplement their income. A number of positions are available on campus, such as with reception or supporting roles with the College administration.
Non-EU/EEA students are not entitled to any financial resources from the Dutch government, but can work a maximum of 16 hours a week or full-time in June, July and August. Their employer does need to provide them with a work permit.
