We are aware that TOEFL will have a new grading scale from 21 January 2026 onward. TOEFL will still publish the old grading scale (0–120) for the overall TOEFL score on the Test Taker Report certificates during 2026-2027. Utrecht University’s overall score requirement will continue to apply to these scores for the 2026–2027 admission cycle. However, the individual component scores will only be reported using the new grading scale. Utrecht University is currently reviewing how these new component scores will be implemented in line with the old sub-scores and will update the relevant webpage(s) as soon as possible. During this interim period, a minimum sub-score of 4.5 will be required.
Please note:
*IELTS Academic and TOEFL iBT (including Home Edition) cannot be more than 2 years old.
†IELTS Online and IELTS One Skill Retake are not accepted. Any English language test not mentioned in the overview is not accepted.
