English language requirements

Utrecht University uses the EMI (English Medium of Instruction) system to asses applicants’ English language skills. This system distinguishes three proficiency levels: EMI-ready, EMI-experienced and EMI-advanced.

Every Bachelor’s programme determines which EMI-level is needed for admission to the programme. You can find the required EMI-level of your Bachelor’s programme on the programme’s page, under ‘Application and admission’.
