Selection
The College of Pharmaceutical Sciences (CPS) is a programme with limited enrolment. Each year a maximum of 60 students is admitted. A limited number makes small-scale education and the selection for motivated students possible. To be admitted to the programme, you will have to participate in the selection procedure.
Selection procedure
If you are motivated for the content and the educational approach of CPS, we welcome you to apply. The selection procedure consists of several steps that you will have to follow. In the table, you will find a description of the selection procedure and crucial deadlines that cannot be missed:

On your selection day, you will write an essay on a CPS-related subject. To prepare for the writing of this essay, you will be asked to choose and carefully read one of the three articles from a popular science magazine that are included in the invitation. On the selection day, you will receive an assignment with a few questions that will guide the contents of the essay. You will get three hours to write your essay.
The principal rule is that the writing takes place on Utrecht Science Park on either Tuesday 2 March 2027 or Thursday 4 March 2027.
If you live abroad, the essay can be written at home with invigilation at distance (online proctoring) on Monday 1 March 2027 between 08:00 and 20:00 European Central Time.
The most important requirements to participate in online proctoring are a private room, a computer, a smart phone or tablet and a steady internet connection.
During the essay writing, you will share recordings of your (web)camera, computer screen and smart phone or tablet. Utrecht University makes use of the services of ProctorExam. Please visit the test taker support page of ProctorExam for more information on online proctoring.
The collection, analysis and temporary storage of the above-mentioned recordings is necessary for identification and the monitoring of fair circumstances during remote participation. Both the background questionnaire (including your grades and the recommendation form) and the essay will receive a score on a 1 to 5 scale. Prospective students with a score of 3.0 (or higher) for the background questionnaire (inquiring motivation, interest and personal background) and recommendation form and a score for 3.0 (or higher) for the written essay can be selected.
