Veterinary Medicine Bachelor’s programme selection procedure

The Faculty of Veterinary Medicine trains students to the degree of Doctor of Veterinary Medicine. The curriculum consists of a six-year programme, divided into a three year Bachelor’s programme and a three year Master’s programme. The Bachelor’s programme starts once a year at the beginning of September. The programme is in Dutch.

The study of Veterinary Medicine is a ‘numerus fixus’ programme; a programme that only admits a limited number of students each year. The number of students that can be admitted for academic year 2019-2020 is 225. The number of admission-requests greatly exceeds the number of allocations. These restrictions affect both Dutch and international students.

To qualify for the Veterinary Medicine Bachelor’s programme, the candidate must meet the entry requirements, apply for the programme at Utrecht University and participate in a selection procedure. The selection procedure is mainly in Dutch and organised by the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine. The selection day is Saturday, 23 February 2019. Applicants are expected to prepare for the selection day in advance. Take into account the real opportunity that you will not be selected for the Veterinary Medicine Bachelor’s programme. It’s important you consider an alternate study programme.
