Workshop: Design for debate – Designing Provocative Discussion Objects for Wicked Problems

Op 27 januari 2023 vindt de workshop 'Design for Debate' plaats, georganiseerd door de Utrecht University School of Governance. We gaan bespreken hoe design de belangrijke uitdagingen ('wicked challenges') van onze tijd kan helpen aanpakken, waaronder duurzaamheid, digitalisering en inclusiviteit. Het thema van dit symposium is "design for debate" en, meer specifiek, provocatieve ontwerpmethodologie. We zullen onwerkbare oplossingen ontwerpen die het democratisch debat over wicked issues helpen versterken. De voertaal van de workshop is Engels.

Participants will be diverse: (international) researchers, practitioners from different fields and students.

The program will consist of a workshop where you will learn about the provocative and critical design method and apply it to one of three societal wicked issues: sustainability, digitalisation, and inclusiveness. The program’s aim is to stimulate rich learning about the potential of provocative design for democratic debate on wicked issues.
