Van Tilburg Lecture - Los Angeles

Los Angeles

How did the Dutch perceive Europe throughout the twentieth century?

Prof. dr. Joris van Eijnatten (Utrecht University, Department of History and Art History) will provide this year's edition of the annual Van Tilburg Lecture at the UCLA. Van Eijnatten's lecture “Mining an uncharted continent: Popular conceptions of Europe in twentieth-century Dutch newspapers” was co-sponsored by the UCLA Center for European and Russian Studies.

The Van Tilburg Lecture series was established in 2005, when architect Johannes Van Tilburg and his wife, archaeologist Jo Anne, gave the Dutch Studies Program at UCLA a remarkably generous gift to establish in perpetuity the Johannes Van Tilburg Lecture in Dutch Studies.
