Studium Generale | What do we know about Russia's war against Ukraine?
Political scientist Olga Burlyuk on why our understanding of the Russian war in Ukraine is often limited.
NB: dit programma is in het Engels.
For nearly four years, the media have been reporting daily on the Russian invasion. So we may think we understand what is happening in Eastern Europe. Yet, according to Ukrainian political scientist Olga Burlyuk (UvA), some Western analysts claim authority without truly knowing Ukraine. In doing so, they inadvertently play into Russia’s hands. How can Burlyuk’s insider perspective help us to understand the war? And which stories do Ukrainians tell about their own country?
In collaboration with UU Conflict Studies (Concerning War and Conflict Lecture Series) and IOS (Contesting Governance Platform).
