Islamophobia in the UK and the Netherlands: A book launch and discussion with Peter Hopkins
Islamophobia and anti-muslim discrimination remain an everyday occurence in the Netherlands and the United Kingdom. Forms of it are visible in all parts of life, from finding housing or work to political debates in public forums. To shed light on this phenomenoa and to have in-depth conversations about it, we are happy to be joined by Peter Hopkins from Newcastle University and Borja Martinovic from Utrecht University.

Peter Hopkins is Professor of Social Geography at Newcastle University, UK. His research interests focus on the intersections of race, religion, youth, gender, and migration and he recently published a book on Everyday Islamophobia with Bristol University.

Borja Martinovic is an Associate Professor (with ius promovendi) at the Department of Interdisciplinary Social Science and a member of the European Research Centre on Migration and Ethnic Relations (ERCOMER). She co-authored the report on Anti-Islam Discrimination for the Dutch Ministry Affairs and Employment in March 2025.
