Study association ECU '92 and the Future of Work hub of Utrecht University address the topic of artificial intelligence and its influence on the way we work.
ECU’92’s annual Economic Conference Utrecht is this year organised in collaboration with the Future of Work hub, part of Institutions for Open Societies. It will feature the following speakers:
James Bessen, a Harvard University alumni, is a current lecturer and Executive Director of the Technology and Innovation research initiative at Boston University, in Boston, Massachusetts, U.S.A. He has written a number of publications on the effect of Artificial Intelligence on the labour market, industries, and its role in policymaking. He will be the opening speaker at this year's conference and will conduct a panel session.
Jennifer Lyn Morone is CEO of the RadicalxChange Foundation. RadicalxChange convenes a community of activists, artists, entrepreneurs, and scholars committed to using dramatically expanded competitive, free and open market mechanisms to reduce inequality, build widely-shared prosperity, heal global political divides and build a richer and more cooperative social life. Jennifer Lyn Morone is an artist, activist and design researcher who has been awarded the Deutsche Bank Creative Enterprise Award.
Vili Lehdonvirta is an Associate Professor and Senior Research Fellow at the Oxford Internet Institute. He is an economic sociologist whose research focuses on digital technologies, such as apps, platforms, and marketplaces. He focuses on how they are governed, how they shape the organisation of economic activities, and with what implications for workers, consumers, businesses, and policy.
The moderator of the conference will be Stefan Wijers. Due to his courage and sense of humor, he creates the perfect atmosphere for brainstorming sessions and debates. In 2013, he was awarded the Best Moderator award.
