Collaboration
Utrecht University collaborates with research organisations and institutes, universities, institutions for higher education and businesses in many teaching and research fields. Collaboration takes place on a regional, national and international level.
Important examples of cooperation with Utrecht University:
Eindhoven University of Technology
Utrecht University and UMC Utrecht entered into a strategic alliance. They will be strengthening ties in research, education and knowledge valorization. The focus in the cooperation lies in renewable energy, medical imaging, stem cells and regenerative medicine. More information: staff news.
Utrecht Sustainability Institute (USI)
The Utrecht Sustainability Institute (USI) works together with the business community, the government and other social partners in order to integrate and apply knowledge. The most important fields of expertise are energy, climate, water and resources, approached from the perspectives of the exact- and social sciences. More information: website USI. The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI)
In October 2011, the European Head Office of The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI) will open in Utrecht. The TERI European Head Office has been established by TERI in conjunction with Utrecht University, the Province of Utrecht and the City of Utrecht. The objective of the Office is to foster the exchange of scientific knowledge in the area of sustained development and energy. This objective is to be achieved through the promotion of scientific research and the development of networks, platforms and intermediary activities between European and Asian companies and institutions for the purpose of innovation and product development. Danone
Danone, a global leader in the food industry, will set up a new innovation centre for specialised food products at De Uithof in Utrecht. Danone’s decision was influenced in no small part by the successful cooperation it enjoys with Utrecht University’s Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences and University Medical Center Utrecht, as well as by the central location of Science Park Utrecht. The centre is scheduled to open in 2012.

City and Province of Utrecht
In October 2006, Utrecht University and the City of Utrecht entered into an agreement for (further) cultural collaboration. This covenant is valid until 2013 and aims to extend and enhance existing collaboration, which has already resulted in a number of initiatives, such as Vrede van Utrecht (Treaty of Utrecht), the Museum District, Cultural Sundays and Utrecht City of Festivals.
Utrecht University and the Province of Utrecht are active partners in the Innovation Task Force (in Dutch only), which launches projects to stimulate knowledge-intensive economic developments in the Utrecht region.
