Please note! From 1 September 2011, the master's programme Literary Studies: Literature in the Modern Age will be known as Comparative Literary Studies.
The Literary Studies 2-year Research Master offers a unique combination of theoretical courses and the reading of specific literatures. The aim is to understand the role of literature in modern societies and its continuing role in the changing media landscapes of the modern world. Students are encouraged to focus on literature but also to engage in cross-disciplinary discussions with those working in other fields of culture.
The programme provides an initial training in post-graduate research in the field of comparative literary studies. It is aimed at highly-motivated students with an excellent academic track record wanting to pursue further study at graduate level. As such it may be a first step towards an academic career, but it can also be followed with other professions in mind.
