Maatwerk
Waarom attendering?
Het is niet eenvoudig bij te houden wat er op uw terrein allemaal gepubliceerd wordt. De grote hoeveelheid en grote diversiteit aan bronnen en bestanden maakt het lastig bij te blijven. Om u het hierbij iets makkelijker te maken heeft de bibliotheek een aantal attenderingsdiensten. Naast Omega, waar u zelf voor een deel van de tijdschriften per titel een atendering kunt activeren, bieden we de faculteit Geowetenschappen en het NITG ook een speciale tijdschriftattendering in twintig vooraf samengestelde groepen tijdschrifttitels.
Tijdschriftenattendering voor stafleden
Om te zorgen voor een meer betrouwbare, meer volledige, meer gerichte en snellere attendering wordt u op deze wijze via e-mail regelmatig van inhoudsopgaven van tientallen relevante tijdschriften voorzien. Voor de faculteit als geheel gaat het om enige honderden titels.
Wat?
De berichten die u elke maandagochtend ontvangt bevatten de inhoudsopgaven die in de week daarvoor zijn ontvangen. Doorgaans zal het per lijst om 2 tot 10 titels gaan. De inhoudsopgaven zijn grotendeels afkomstig van leveranciers van electronische tijdschriften en van het Picabestand Online Contents. Op de laatste inhoudsopgaven rust copyright van Swets & Zeitlinger; ze mogen derhalve niet worden doorgestuurd naar derden buiten de universiteit. Bij de artikelen of onderaan de inhoudsopgave staat een link ofwel naar de full-text-locatie van dat tijdschrift ofwel naar het record van het tijdschrift in PiCarta. Via PiCarta kunt u een afdruk (kopie of scan in PDF) bestellen. Hiervoor heeft u een IBL-account nodig, dat u als medewerker van de departmenten FG/IMW/SGPL kunt aanvragen bij de balie van de centrale bibliotheek (zeg daarbij dat u medewerker FGW bent). Op dit moment is tweederde van de titels beschikbaar in full-text (zie tabel). Overigens is in het najaar van 2005 deze dienst uitgebreid geëvaleerd. Uit het onderzoek onder de medewerkers over deze attenderingsdienst gaf 37% aan zonder de dienst het werk niet of minder goed te kunnen doen en nog eens 42% zei dat de attenderingen prettig en tijdsbesparend zijn.
Voor wie?
De attenderingsmail is bedoeld voor stafleden, promovendi, labpersoneel en andere geïnteresseerde medewerkers. U kunt een verzoek indienen om de attendering van een of meer extra groepen te ontvangen. Ook kunt u natuurlijk verzoeken niets meer te ontvangen. Nieuwe medewerkers worden niet automatisch in de verzending opgenomen. Zij kunnen een verzoek om toezending van de attendering sturen, met aanduiding van de lijstnummers.
Lijsten met tijdschrifttitels
De lijsten met tijdschriften zijn een compromis. Enerzijds zijn ze zo samengesteld dat zo veel mogelijk mensen met één, hooguit twee lijsten toe kunnen, terwijl zo min mogelijk mensen veel meer informatie krijgen dan zij nodig hebben. Anderzijds is er de eis dat er niet teveel lijsten moeten komen en dat elk tijdschrift maar in één lijst zit. In het overzicht hieronder ziet u welk type tijdschriften in welke lijst zit, het aantal titels en hoeveel daarvan er electronisch in full-text beschikbaar zijn. De titels in de lijsten zijn nog maar voor een klein deel ook op papier. Ook zitten in de attendering enige titels die in het geheel niet bij de UB in abonnement zijn, gedrukt noch electronisch. Als u suggesties voor toevoeging of verwijdering heeft, horen wij dit graag. Hieronder ziet u de 20 lijsten voor de Faculteit Geowetenschappen. U kunt ook op een van de lijstnamen hieronder klikken.

Boekenattendering
GeoInfo: bibliotheeknieuwsbrief met aanwinsten (voor FG, IMW en SGPL)Om op de hoogte te blijven van nieuwe aanwinsten van de bibliotheek ontvangt u elke maandag in de nieuwsbrief GeoInfo een lijst met titels die die week in de aanwinstenkast van leeszaal Geowetenschappen van de Centrale Bibliotheek staan. Deze nieuwsbrief wordt toegestuurd aan de staf-l lijst van de departementen FG/IMW/SGPL en bereikt dus alle medewerkers die op die lijst geabonneerd zijn. De boeken blijven één week in de aanwinstenkast staan. U kunt de titels daar bekijken en eventueel via de catalogus reserveren. Boeken uit de aanwinstenkast kunt u in die week nog niet lenen. GeoInfo bevat ook een attendering op nieuwe fulltext proefschriften en rapporten die gratis beschikbaar zijn op het web en op geo-relevante programma's op televisie en natuurlijk nieuws op het gebied van de wetenschappelijke informatievoorziening voor de geowetenschapen.
Jaararchief van aanwinstenlijsten op het web
Een andere manier om op de hoogte te blijven van nieuwe boeken in de biobliotheek is via de lijst van de aanwinsten FG/IMW/SGPL op het web. Daar staan de aanwinsten per maand en per collectie bij elkaar. Deze lijsten zijn echter niet gekoppeld aan de inhoud van de aanwinstenkast en u moet dus zelf regelmatig kijken.
Maatwerk
Als u daar behoefte aan heeft kan de bibliotheek u bijstaan bij het opstellen van individuele attenderingsprofielen waarmee u de diensten hierboven zeer gericht kunt aanvullen of vervangen. Er zijn vele mogelijkheden:
- voor boeken op onderwerp, titelwoorden, auteur via PiCarta
- voor tijdschriftartikelen op titelwoord via PiCarta, of op basis van een verfijnde zoekactie in Geography, Econlit of Georef voor tijdschriftafleveringen of artikelen (titelwoorden, woorden uit abstracts (of zelfs de gehele tekst) via Elsevier Science Direct, Scopus of Web of Science
- voor tijdschriftartikelen via de Electronic Reference Library ('saved search', woorden uit abstracts van duizenden tijdschriften, zeer degelijk maar wel met enige vertraging)
- voor websites via attenderingsdiensten van/voor Google
- voor websites via Copernic Agent Professional
- voor veranderingen op webpagina's via Copernic Tracker
