What is OpenAIRE?
In 2009, the OpenAIRE project was started in order to support the Open Access policy of the European Commission. OpenAIRE offers support for two European intitiatives that deal with Open Access:
OpenAIRE supports the above mentioned initiatives with a Europe-wide network of National Open Access Desks (NOADs). The Utrecht University Library is the NOAD for The Netherlands, see Support and Contact. The NOADs will assist scholars in the participating member countries in complying with the requirements of the OA Pilot and ERC Guidelines. See also: OpenAIRE for scholars.
OpenAIRE will harvest the publications that fall within the OA Pilot and ERC Guidelines and make them available on a central level. In this way, insight can be gathered about the number of publications, the contents and the usage of the publications that are produced as a result of research funded by the EC. The technical infrastructure builds on the European D-net, developed during the DRIVER project. For technical support by the NOADs, see OpenAIRE for repository managers.
