Public international law

The collection

Books
The public international law collection (JBVOL) is divided into two parts, a book collection and a document collection. It is located on the 2nd floor in the Law Library.
In the book collection both the general public international law as well as its various branches are well represented. Special subjects included in the collection are: the law of the sea, air law and space law. In addition to public international law, you will also find books on diplomatic history and international relations (with a focus on introductory and theoretical publications). Also part of the collection is the "Horstman Library".
The document collection, located in the back room of the 2nd floor, consists of documentation of international organizations, documentation on state practice, case law and treaty collections.

Journals
A steadily increasing number of journals is available in full-text electronic format. You can use "Omega" to search for articles published by Elsevier, Ebsco, JStor and Springer. The law journals are mentioned on the list "Journals: Law".
Printed journals in the field of public international law can be found in the Law Library in section D of the journal collection. Issues of the current year are located on the ground floor, back volumes on the first floor.
When searching for journal articles, the best source to use is the Peace Palace Library Catalogue.

Electronic databases
Several databases in the field of public international law are available at "Electronic Databases - Law" (UN Treaty Collection, UNBISnet, UN Official Documents System, Verdragenbibliotheek).
See also some historical databases (inter alia Keesings Historical Archive) available at "Electronic databases - History".
