International Students

ICT

Utrecht University offers excellent ICT facilities and makes full use of computer-assisted learning. Students work with Blackboard (AS/Vista) which provides you with online study material, the opportunity to exchange information with your lecturers or fellow-students, and an easy way to submit assignments or undertake practice tests.

E-mail and files

Google Apps for Education can be used for your e-mail, schedule, task lists, and the University address book. Gmail will provide you with 7 GB of storage space.  Personal files can be saved on the U-disk which will allow you to store up to 50 MB of data. The U-disk can be accessed via any web browser, either on your own PC or on any other computer within or outside of the University.

Computer Rooms

If it is too noisy or crowded at home and you are looking for a quiet place to work, please feel free to use any of the computer rooms available in many of the University buildings. All programmes have extensive libraries which not only provide books, but Internet facilities and CD-ROMs too. Check Internet (also accessible via mobile phone) to see which computers are available.

Research and learning facilities

Depending on your course or programme, specific research and learning facilities will be available. For instance:

  • Video conferencing
  • RoboLab
  • Motion capture lab
  • Usability lab
  • Geographical information systems
  • Biomedical imaging
  • and more...
