Are you curious by nature, analytical and ready for a challenge in an attractive academic environment? Are you interested in writing academic texts or engaging in debate and prepared to tackle the more complicated aspects of legal issues? Would you like the opportunity to complete an in-depth Master’s-level study beyond the standard one-year period? The two-year Legal Research Prestige Master’s at Utrecht University may be for you!
This Master’s programme not only prepares you for a legal career as a practitioner in the commercial, public service or academic sector, it also offers an excellent foundation for further studies at PhD level. As part of this programme, you will complete courses in legal research skills, as well as within your field of preference. You will also spend approximately one year engaged in legal research projects and writing a thesis.
For legal practitioners and academics alike, legal research skills have become increasingly important. Accordingly law firms have a growing need for thorough, well trained lawyers with excellent writing skills and a research-oriented mindset. In addition, legislative and executive processes developing at the international, national and local level necessitate sharp analytical thinkers. Traditional law courses are not always adequate to provide graduates with the required knowledge and skills to meet this demand and, for this reason, Utrecht University has developed the two-year international Legal Research Master’s programme.
"Our graduates are much sought after by universities as well as law firms" Professor Titia Loenen, programme director of the LLM Legal Research
"Why Utrecht? Utrecht is a city to love!"
