Application procedure

Download the 'Instructions Applying for a Master’s programme (pdf)’.

  1. Go to Studielink and apply online.
  2. Pay the application fee in good time.
  3. Send in the required forms and documents in good time.
  4. China Applicants from China: apply for a Nuffic Certificate. Make sure you apply for the Nuffic Certificate at the same time you apply for admission at Utrecht University, otherwise your application cannot be processed. You can find more information and apply for a Nuffic Certificate online at www.nuffic.nl/nuffic-certificate.

* Note: if you are an official resident of the Netherlands (i.e., if you are registered with a Dutch municipality), you have to log in with a DigiD. If you do not have a DigiD yet, go to www.digid.nl/english. Note: it takes about 5 working days before you receive your DigiD.

Exceptions

  • If you wish to apply for the Erasmus Mundus-programmes ‘Applied Ethics’or ‘GEMMA’ >> check on the website of the programme under ‘How to apply’.
  • If you wish to apply for a 'privately funded Master’s programmes >> go to ‘Privately funded Master's programmes’ The privately funded Master’s programmes are: Animal Welfare / Epidemiology Postgraduate / International Business Law and Globalisation / International Human Rights and Criminal Justice / Veterinary and Molecular Pathology /Veterinary Epidemiology and Economics.
  • If you have obtained your relevant degree at a Dutch university or HBO institute, your application is not processed by the International Office. Therefore, you do not have to pay the application fee.
