Grants and scholarships

Students from an EU/EEA-country may apply for either a student grant within the Dutch student grants and loans system or a tuition fee allowance. It is not possible to apply for both forms of financial assistance simultaneously. In this section you will find information on the exact terms and conditions for financial assistance. Part-time students or students from non-EU/EEA countries are not eligible for these student grants or tuition fee allowances.

Do you not meet the requirements? In special cases, a student might be entitled to the regular student grant. See the nationality chart of DUO - IB-Groep.

If you are not eligible for these, try http://www.grantfinder.nl/. This is an online search engine for those who want to study in the Netherlands and are looking for financial aid, including the Netherlands Fellowship Programmes for professionals from targeted developing countries.

Please note that grants and scholarships seldom cover all of the costs of studying and living. You will need a well-balanced financial plan to provide support while completing your studies. Enrolment in a Master's degree programme at Utrecht University does not automatically constitute an offer of financial support.
