Entrepreneurship plays an increasingly important role in Utrecht University’s academic teaching. Students are given the opportunity to prepare for entrepreneurship by following specific courses or following a traineeship. Moreover, various facilities and guidance are available for starting entrepreneurs.
Centre for Entrepreneurship and Innovation
The Centre for Entrepreneurship and Innovation (Centrum voor Ondernemerschap en Innovatie, CvOI), initiated by the Science Park Utrecht, supports students and staff intending to set up their own business.
The Utrecht Centre for Education in Management and Entrepreneurship (UCEME) organises courses and events on entrepreneurship, management and business economics for students and researchers. Companies and institutions may also make use of UCEME’s expertise.
The ICT-Incubator Netherware of the Department of Information and Computing Sciences provides courses on ICT entrepreneurship and assists students in starting their own ICT company.
Utrecht School of Applied Science
The graduate programmes of the Utrecht School of Applied Science (USAS) are centred on making scientific research results applicable to trade and industry. USAS also offers business professionals (having finished a university science programme) the possibility of taking their PhD at the interface between fundamental research and its applications.
