Utrecht University offers an innovative teaching and learning environment. Successful teaching concepts, such as the small-scale and prestigious University College Utrecht and the Utrecht Law College, have been recognised and adopted by other universities. 

Profiles and specialisations

Utrecht University offers a selection of 45 undergraduate programmes and 169 graduate programmes. This variety enables students to pursue their individual interests and ambitions in the best possible way. Utrecht University provides intensive guidance to help them choose the right subjects.

Multidisciplinary and innovative

Innovative research is primarily conducted at the interfaces between academic disciplines. Utrecht University pursues active collaboration between the various disciplines, thus using the diversity of its range of programmes to its advantage. Examples of multidisciplinary collaboration include the Graduate School of Life Sciences, the Ethics Institute and the Centre for Human Rights and Conflict Studies. Utrecht is the place to study for students with talents and ambitions in more than one academic area.

Social engagement

Utrecht University is actively engaged with our wider society, its teaching deals with topical social issues varying from biomedical genetics to human rights and from climate research to culture studies. Examples include Utrecht University’s participation in the ‘Building Knowledge for Climate Change’ research project and its substantial role in Dutch gaming research.

Entrepreneurship teaching

Utrecht University values knowledge transfer – converting knowledge into socially useful products and services. That is why the University boasts various programmes which are classified under the heading of ‘entrepreneurship teaching’.
