Graduate School of Life Sciences

Organisation

The Graduate School of Life Sciences is the shared responsibility of the Deans of the three organising faculties: the Faculty of Medicine (University Medical Center Utrecht), the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, and the Faculty of Science. The Faculty of Social & Behavioural Sciences participates in the Master's programme 'Neuroscience & Cognition' and the PhD programme 'Cognition & Behaviour'.

The Deans are assisted by the Board of Studies who is responsible for coordination and quality of both the Master's and PhD programmes.

For the Master phase some responsibilities have been delegated:

  • The Admission Committee decides on admission of applicants to individual Master's programmes.
  • The Educational Committee is responsible for quality control of the Master's programmes.
  • The Board of Examiners defines the criteria for graduation of Master's students.
  • The Master Life Sciences representatives is a student initiative to represent the interests and rights of all Master's students of the Graduate School of Life Sciences in Utrecht University.
