Scholarship (international students only)
For highly qualified international students who face prohibitive costs UCU has a number of partial scholarships available. Non-EEA students are more likely to belong to this category than others. Their tuition fee is higher and as a rule they have no work permit and far more restricted loan privileges.

Utrecht excellence scholarship (international students only)
In addition to the scholarships which UCU issues, Utrecht University also has six scholarships available for UCU students. These ‘excellence’ scholarships are merit-based and between € 1.500,- and € 16.400,- a year.

Student grant ‘studiefinanciering’ (Dutch students only)
As UCU is part of Utrecht University all Dutch students are automatically eligible for a student grant or ‘studiefinanciering’.

Student grant (non-Dutch EEA students only)
As an EEA student you are allowed to take up a part-time job in the Netherlands. If you work more than 32 hours a month you may be eligible for a student grant, paid monthly, which turns into a gift once you graduate.

Tuition fees loan (non-Dutch EEA students only)
If you are not eligible for a Dutch student grant and you are a national of one of the countries which belong to the European Union (EU), the European Economic Area (EEA) or Switzerland, you can apply for a loan or a contribution towards the payment of your tuition fees or course fees.

Fafsa loan (U.S. citizens only)
Utrecht University and therefore UCU has been approved for Federal Financial Aid for American Students (FAFSA, FFEL). This means you can apply for a federal loan while studying at UCU or Utrecht University.

Student Aid Fund
The Student Aid Fund helps students who experience financial hardship after enrollment at UCU. Students in financial need can apply for support. The amount of money that can be granted depends on the student's financial situation, but will be modest. Support from the Student Aid Fund is intended for books, field trips and the like, but will not be enough to cover tuition fees and living expenses.

Orange Tulip Scholarship (Chinese students only)
UCU has 2 full tuition waivers on offer for excellent Chinese students with a clear humanities or science profile. The value of each scholarship amounts to € 10.000 per year, for three consecutive years.
