Jorrit Steehouder is currently affiliated to Utrecht University as a lecturer with a focus on the history of international relations and European integration. From 2016 to 2020, he worked within the NWO-funded project ‘Blueprints of Hope: Designing Post-War Europe; Ideas, Emotions, Networks and Negotiations (1930—1963)’ led by prof. Beatrice de Graaf, prof. Mathieu Segers and prof. Peter-Ben Smit, where he worked on early European economic and monetary cooperation. He defended his dissertation ‘Constructing Europe. Blueprints for a New Monetary Order, 1919-1950’ in January 2022. Currently Jorrit is preparing the manuscript for publication. His further research interests, besides European integration, include the history of diplomacy, Europe’s social-economic history and European governments-in-exile.

In 2019 Jorrit received the Henri Rieben Scholarship from the Fondation Jean Monnet pour l’Europe in Lausanne, Switzerland.
