Ingrid Roestenburg-Morgan is a South African living in the Netherlands. She is currently completing a PhD in International Criminal Law and Human Rights at the University of Utrecht at the School of Human Rights Research and the Netherlands Institute for Human Rights. She was one out of the 20 selected out of 300 participants in NWO’s Mosaic Programme to undertake her research which focuses on the International Criminal Court’s (ICC) legitimacy and efficacy within Africa. 

Related to her research is her deep passion and commitment to Africa. In her spare time Ingrid is active as a Board Member and Chairperson of the NGO Action Aid. In its Dutch branch, she advises on issues of human rights and international law. Part of the organisation's goal is the eradication of poverty worldwide including in Africa, and the promotion and development of human rights for the disadvantaged. 

Prior to undertaking her PhD, she was employed as a Legal Officer at the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia (ICTY), on the Stanisic and Simatovic Case and the Popovic et al Case (Srebrenica Case). Part of her educational background included completing an LLM at the University of Utrecht, in the Netherlands, specialising in International Criminal Justice and Human Rights Law; a Bachelor of Laws degree (LLB) at the University of South Africa specialising in Criminal Law and a Bachelor of Arts degree (BA) specialising in Sociology and Politics at the University of the Witwatersrand in Johannesburg, South Africa.
